GIS Workshop on Friday, July 9

You are invited to register for an Introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) workshop.

Where: Honnold/Mudd Library, Keck Learning Room
When: Friday, July 9, 1-5 p.m.

This is a hands-on session: all attendees will have access to a PC with internet access. If you are interested in using your own laptop, please arrive early to install GIS.

During the workshop, participants will be introduced to basic GIS concepts and guided on where to obtain Census information for locations across the US. Each participant will learn how to present demographic data in compelling new ways using the GIS tools. Participants are offered an online Virtual Campus Course and software (ArcGIS 9.3.1). The library's GIS Specialist will remain after the workshop to answer questions.

Who should attend?
All students, faculty, and staff are invited! Reseachers will find the tools essential, for example, in the analysis of demographics, support of community based grants, and examination of where specific populations reside to support fund raising for the population served.

Registration is not required, but you are encouraged to register as seating is limited (16 seats).
