Our New Discovery Gateway

The Claremont Colleges Library has selected OCLC's WorldShare Management System (WMS) as its next generation platform for delivering library services. WMS will provide the library with the opportunity to expand discovery of information resources and increase the ease of access to library content. While the look and some of the functions will be a bit different from our current system, we are confident that this change will provide our users with improved library service.

Implementing WMS will...

  • Allow the library to integrate more of our resources and services into the "one box" search function which will reduce barriers to discovering and accessing content.

  • Enable users to be able to move more easily from locating information resources to accessing full text content in electronic form.

  • Empower users to be able to quickly and easily order information resources (books, articles, etc) that are not immediately available but are owned by other libraries.

The library targets to go live with WMS in July 2015. In preparation for this transition, we are offering "sneak preview" sessions to introduce faculty and students to the new system, using examples drawn from other WMS libraries. We invite you to join in on one of the following sessions to learn about WMS and to ask questions.
