The Claremont Colleges Library has been selected to receive a grant from Steelcase Education supporting the installation of an active learning classroom as part of the Active Learning Center (ALC) program. This award of $65,000, plus design and instructional services support, will improve the Keck Learning Room (KLR) In the revamped classroom, students will have opportunities for hands-on engagement with primary sources and digital scholarship. Faculty will also use the classroom to learn new strategies for active learning and inclusive pedagogy through the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL).
Steelcase received 961 proposals and awarded just 15 grants; only 8 (less than 1%) went to institutions of Higher Education. The Claremont Colleges Library is thrilled to be among these. The Steelcase award will allow us to complete renovations and improvements to the Keck Learning Room over the summer in time for a fall semester opening.
